Richard H Plant Mnava

5 Devenports Hill, Leicestershire

Independent Auctioneer, Fine Art Valuer & Antiques Surveyor I have over thirty years experience in the sphere of antiques, fine art and chattels. I was educated locally at Stoneygate School and then at Oakham School where my interest in art developed. After leaving school I took up a position with Warner Sheppard & Wade in Leicester, a prominent firm of auctioneers, estate agents and valuers. There, under the guidance of my father T Robert Plant I gained experience in all aspects of auctioneering and valuation work. From 1995 until September 2003 I was the director of Warner Auctions Limited, in Leicester. I am now a freelance independent auctioneer and Valuer and also act as a consultant for a leading provincial firm of auctioneers. I frequently undertake work for a number of leading firms of solicitors, accountants and insurance brokers. I am a member of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers, and a past chairman of the long established Leicester Antiques Society. I also act as an adviser on furnishings and valuables to The Dioceses of Coventry and Leicester. I am based in Leicester and cover a large part of the East Midlands, although my work has frequently taken me much further afield and I undertake work in London from time to time. I have appeared on BBC?s Bargain Hunt and East Midlands Today, as well as BBC Radio Leicester. The services that I provide are undertaken with the utmost confidentiality.

Shouler & Son

County Auction Rooms, Leicestershire

An uncertain future for the farming industry in the 1840s, with mechanisation beginning to change old practices, was the climate in which William Shouler, then aged 21, announced that he was setting up business as Auctioneer and Appraiser in Woburn Sands. Three years later he left the area and established himself in his wife's home town of Melton Mowbray. For the last 166 years William's successors have guided their clients through periods of development and stagnation, expansion and recession, in a world of property where expectations and regulations are constantly changing. His great-great-great-grandson Ben has been a partner since 2008 and his duties included assisting his uncle, Simon Shouler in the auctioneering of all effects that pass through the firms Auction Room in Melton Mowbray. For Property issues today, clients need both historic experience and modern resources, the qualities that Shouler & Son possess. Working from Melton Mowbray and Grantham, the eight partners each working in a particular field of expertise while retaining a wide general knowledge across the profession.
