Busby Auctioneers and Valuers

Bridport Salerooms, Dorset

Busby is a new independent auction house offering a great depth of experience from those involved. It is located at the Bridport Salerooms in West Dorset which are housed in The Old Hemp Store near the Victorian suburb of North Mills. The building dates from the nineteenth century where much of it was indeed used as a hemp store in connection with Bridport?s thriving rope industry of that period. Although the rope and net industry still exists, it is a shadow of its former self and now the town is more synonymous with the arts and local produce and holds a number of literary, film and food festivals throughout the year. The premises offer substantial saleroom space adjacent to secure and extensive storage for consignments prior to the appropriate sale We are a regulated business subject to the professional standards of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). We do not operate outside our areas of expertise and will not try to, preferring to point you in the right direction if we cannot help.

Cottees Auctions Limited

The Market, Dorset

Cottees is situated in the walled market town of Wareham in Dorset, England. ... The town of Wareham was granted a civic charter in 1211 by King John for weekly markets and an annual Fair and in 1703 Queen Anne granted Wareham more Fairs. ?Cottees? was not in business then, but if they had been they would have been as popular as they are now. At the beginning of the 20th century Arthur Rodgers was running Wareham Market, with livestock sales and fairs under West Walls, where pens were erected for cattle, sheep, pigs and calves. When the area became a car park, the permanent rails were removed and the produce, which had previously been sold at other places in Wareham, was sold in the Corn Exchange (the Town Hall). With its new owner and a few new faces on the staff, Cottees look forward to celebrating its centenary year in 2007, still on the site owned by Samuel William Cottee's three grandchildren.

Opera Circus - Charity

Three Chimneys, Dorset

Opera Circus is a charity based in West Dorset. Founded 26 years ago  it works with young people in the South West and other parts of the UK as  well as a number of countries in Europe.  Using high quality informal arts education and cultural activities, the organisation develops the youth voice in civil society, encourages tolerance and understanding and tackles issues of inclusion and equality, working with young people from many different backgrounds, race, disadvantage and disability.   Opera Circus leads youth exchanges between North and South of the UK as well as with Europe.  Helping to develop self confidence, motivation, life and work skills and a fairer society, giving young people the tools to work within their own and wider communities and to have a say in their own future. Tina Ellen Lee, Artistic Director,   "As a sufferer of depression and anxiety, being a part of this community helped me to grow strength and be happy in doing something creative with new friends. I am still on a journey of discovery during this project as I am learning more about myself and the current issues internationally. Speaking and listening to the various participants from different countries educates me on wider communities the way the media never could; allowing me to have educated opinions and a voice that can be heard and valued.” Zoe 16   "The importance of TCFT is about giving us - the youth - opportunities to approach the change we want to see in the world and acting upon it with our own creative output. And in the end, what most impressed me was kindness' liberating effect on everyone’s development. It teaches us all that from kindness comes empowerment to serve, and that in our service to others we attain the highest form of happiness.” Sara 22   "Projects like TCFT are rare, it takes everyone to a place that is slightly outside the comfort zone and we are experiencing it all with people we don’t meet in our ordinary lives, it stretches us in a great way, we are more curious and we learn more. Often disabled people and non disabled people don’t get to share important experiences like travelling together because we are taught through experience that we have to live separate lives; separate schools, separate seats in the theatre, separate train carriages… This project has given back to us the lost time and it allows us to re-evaluate how we want the world to look and how we engage with people in our local communities. I have been deeply moved by this project and the other people I have encountered. Of course in 4 years we have all grown up but I feel I am a better person and leader now because of the meetings I’ve had: over dinner, through a dance or creating a song. So I want to thank you for having the idea and more importantly having the motivation to action it. I’ve learnt a lot about leadership from you and one thing I will take away is to dream big, get up and do it.” Eilis Davis, Artistic Director 26
